1. Body Shape

Elongated, cylindrical, and slender body.

Scaleless, smooth, slimy skin.

More slender compared to Magur.

2. Color

Dark brown to blackish on the back.

Belly is lighter (grayish or whitish).

3. Head & Mouth

Flattened head, broad mouth.

Equipped with 4 pairs of long barbels (whiskers).

Has sharp pectoral spines which are venomous → can cause painful stings (hence called "Stinging Catfish").

4. Size

Common size: 10–20 cm.

Can grow up to 30–35 cm, but usually smaller than Magur.
