1. Body Shape

Elongated and laterally compressed (flat from the sides).

Very soft, delicate body without scales.

Smooth and slimy skin.

2. Color

Semi-transparent, whitish to silvery body with a pinkish belly.

Some species may have a faint golden or bluish shine.

3. Head & Mouth

Small flattened head with wide mouth.

Long barbels (whiskers) around the mouth, used for sensing food.

4. Size

Usually 10–20 cm long.

Weight: 50–150 g each.
