1. Body Shape

Long, slender, and streamlined body.

Smooth skin appearance (scales are tiny and hardly visible).

2. Color

Silvery-gray body with a lighter, whitish belly.

Fins usually grayish with a reddish or pinkish tinge.

3. Head & Mouth

Broad, flat head with a wide mouth.

Small eyes located low on the head.

Has small barbels (whisker-like feelers), typical of catfishes.

5. Size

Can grow up to 1–1.5 meters in natural conditions.

In aquaculture, usually harvested at 1–3 kg.
